The unique architectural features of the site I assessed in my site survey greatly influenced this design by inspiring me to add more curves and feature ceilings. The scale of the interior helped me to build a strong public image to discourage deviance, as well as an open floor plan which maintains surveillance. Strong, durable materials like hardwood and marble prevents defects or signs of wear that contribute to broken windows theory - the idea that seemingly minor imperfections portray an over-tolerance of deviant behaviour and lead to further crime. This is the same research that built the discussion proposed in my publication.
